PENN MEDICINE – THE PAVILLION

Client The Pavilion at The University of Pennsylvania
Location Philadelphia, PA
Scope Of Work Electrical Key Trade Subcontractor

Project Detail

The Pavilion at The University of Pennsylvania is a $1.5 billion new hospital on Penn Medicine’s West Philadelphia campus. The Pavilion will house 500 private patient rooms and 47 operating rooms in a 1.5 million square foot, 17-story facility on the former site of Penn Tower; across the street from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and adjacent to the medical campus’s outpatient hub, the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.  It will also be connected to University City train station via a network of public bridges and walkways.  Anticipated completion is 2021.

The Pavilion is being designed and constructed through an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) Model.  Shaeffer Electric has been hired as the electrical Key Trade Subcontractor, and we are working with architects Foster + Partners and HDR, engineering designer BR+A, construction managers L.F. Driscoll and Balfour Beatty, mechanical contractor Southland Industries, and Penn Medicine’s clinical and facilities experts from design through delivery.  The IPD process involves collaboration with all firms from the start of design through construction completion, in order to deliver an outstanding building while optimizing construction efficiency and cost.  We are honored and excited to be a part of this groundbreaking project.
